Middle row reading lights in my 99 Suburban aren't working but I can't see an obvious way to remove the cluster from the roof lining. How do I do that without making a mess of it?

I'm no help (sorry) but I'm curious to see what you find out. The middle row of them in my 'burb work fine, but the rear most ones haven't worked in years. The dome light in the center of them does though. Tried changing the bulbs obviously, no luck. I've been procrastinating fixing that until I get my headliner done.

when the center lens is removed there are 2 Phillips head screws. take them out and it will come down. The light fixture helps the headliner stay up so a prop of some sort put in to support the headliner wouldn't be a bad idea. also remove the ctsy fuse when you remove the light to prevent popping the fuse if the orange wire touches ground.
If the dome light works but the map lights don't it is most likely the black wire connection to ground is compromised.

X2. The map lights are 194 and the lens turns 90degrees also the contacts are notorious for loosing contact... incase it's not the bulb

Yep, the contacts. Sorted now though - with much fiddling.
Thanks everyone - I would have attempted prying the whole moulding from the roof if I'd not got the heads-up on the screws - and that would not have been pretty. Dodgy lens contacts and how to remove the lens a big help also. Using a multimeter is essential refitting those badgers. No continuity across the contacts means the bulb isn't hooked up. No point in refitting it in the truck until there is.
