question about rear wheel spacers on lowered truck...

I was wondering about wheel spacers... I lowered my Tahoe, and i want to bring the wheels out a bit, they seem to be sitting in too far. I was told this is the way it was designed from the factory. Are there spacers I can use to bring them out a wee bit?
