Pnp switch help?

I am in the process of an ls swap. I got a ls2 and a 4l60e out of a trailblazer ss and when I was pulling the motor, I broke the park neutral position switch off the old trans trying to unplug it. At the time I didn't really care, last plug late at night haha. My question now is could I have used the old pnp switch on the new motor so I didn't have to rewire the plugs?
