So I'm looking at my factory GM manual and the picture it has is garbage.
I have a 1996 ECSB K1500 Z71.
The picture in the manual appears to be of a 3500.
My question: Besides a full rear disc upgrade, have any of you upgraded or modified your parking brake cables with a bracket mounted on the frame instead of leaf spring fwd mount? I'm pointing to the illusive bracket with my fingers.
I'm trying to keep my cable adjuster from rubbing on the frame AND from having the one cable from trying to saw through the cable guide. In the 3rd pic, the cable turns up at a 30 degree angle to meet the cables at the spring shackle/mount.
Do the 2500 trucks have an identical setup? 3500 trucks? Later years?
This has been a pet peeve of mine for years and now I'm going to fix it. Seriously, someone definitely designed this setup on a Friday or on a Monday hung-over.
It makes no sense whatsoever to route the cables in this manner.
If any of you could provide pics, year and model of your setups, that would be awesome. Thanks.
