Thread necro for some updates:

Bad news: Picked up a slick '13 2500HD at work. But, workforce grew so truck plans got ganked, its a plus since its essentially falling apart at this point. Bed is a total write off and the trans has begun to slip. Any work/repair is money I don't have to invest.

Good news: Friend of mine is selling one of her K1500 ext cabs soon. Little rusty, factory 350, higher mileage. This coin is two sided because I may still have dibs on the K2500 Cheyanne as a potential donor.

How idiotic does swapping a K2500 single cab chassis to an ext cab via cab and bed swaps? From what I've seen there's a 10 inch difference between the two chassis.
