Need advise on a new torque converter

I Have just installed a 383 stroker into my 1997 4wd tahoe
Before I install my 4l60e trans I would like to go to a upgrade torque converter.
I only street drive but we get snow here NY
No towing either
Any suggestions would be great.

What cam do you have in it, where is your power band?

It is build for low end power

OK, let's say you have a cam that's rated for idle - 5,000RPM but your power band doesn't come in until ~2,300 then you'll want a TC with a stall of ~2,300. Of course your stall speed may actually be lower or higher depending on how much torque your engine develops at those revs. HTH

Another thing to keep in mind is the wide spread gear ratio between 1st and 2nd on these transmissions. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd your RPMs drop ~2,400, you want to make sure you're still in your power band. You may have to play with your shift points...

More good info,I went with a pro Torque Converter . 12 inch dia,1800-2100.,they say good to 400 hp. I had one in my caprice wagon and held up.
Cost shipped and tax was 410.

I would have suggested Circle D torque converters out of Texas.
You tell them your setup and they can help you choose what you want.
