I have a truck that the transmission had gone out in. I had a transmission from a 1991 Chevy pickup that was involved in a wreck.
It sat in a storage building for 6 years. I changed the fluid and filter.

I install it in the truck and everything works but I have no Overdrive. It shifts to 4th but the RPMs just continue to climb. moments later Im turning 2400 RPM at 60 MPH.

How can this be fixed?
Or does it have to be replaced?

Truck Information:
Year: 1992
Make: GMC
Model: Sierra C1500 (Extended Cab)
Trim level: Sierra (Auto windows, auto locks, A/C, etc)
Tire condition: Fair
Tire size: 31x10.5/R15
Engine: 350 5.7 V8 TBI
Transmission: 700 R4
4WD?: No

Sounds Like The Torque Converter Lockup To Me if it shifts to 4th (od)

x2 on the tc lockup. Make sure all connectors were plugged in tightly. Did you reuse your original torque converter or the one that was with the other trans?

It is a rebuilt one from Autozone.
Connectiors plugged in or not plugged in it does the same thing. No OD and high RPMS after 55-60 MPH.

Mine did something like that not as high as yours. It winded up being the wiring to the torque converter clutch solenoid does it jerk when you let off and get back on it. does it shift kinda rough
