And they are contradicting their own numbers from GM Powertrain. And the fact if you can do basic math it comes out to 325 cid. Don't worry though as the retard dealers have badged up enough 327 SS trucks to make you sick. That was mostly back in 99 and 2000 though, haven't seen a newer one than that. Oh well, I guess if GM can be retarded so can the rest of world.

That engine is a joke too. 327 Hp and 347 lb ft....... wow..... that is sad. Just buy an L33 and at least get an aluminum block out of the deal. Or even the LC9, tuning can make up the difference from 310- 315 Hp on the OEM replacements to that.

Ford's 302 wasn't really a 5.0L engine. Marketing made it that. I suspect marketing makes the 5.3 a 427, too.

so seeing as everyone is throwing around CID #'s here i figured this would be a good spot to ask what a 355 is? i heard people talk about it a time or two from this or that forum but what is it, just a bored 350?

I think it's a .030 over 350, but I've never done the math.

By my math it comes out to 352.5... so a 355 is .060 over. (Divide 350 by 8, add .03, multiply by 8)

your math is a little off, if you're dividing 350 by 8 then you're getting the VOLUME of an individual cylinder, not the bore....its easier to work forwards with this than it is backwards. I posted the formula on the first page, but here's some calculations:

pi*(r)^2*h = volume of a cylinder * 8 = cid of the engine

4.00 Bore, 3.48 stroke:
pi*(2.00)^2*3.48*8 = 349.8 cid = a stock 350

4.030 bore, 3.48 stroke:
pi*(2.015)^2*3.48*8 = 355.1 cid

4.060 bore, 3.48 stroke:
pi*(2.030)^2*3.48*8 = 360.4 cid

so 0.030 over is a 355, where 0.060 over is a 360.
