A 5.3 is NOT a 327ci engine... a 327 is 5.4 liters. A 5.3 is not. (anyone know the actual displacement? I think it's 325 or 323ci but I don't want to spread misinformation when trying to clear up misinformation :uhoh2:).

A 6.0 is 364 cubic inches, not 396. A 6.5TD is indeed 396 cubic inches, though.

A 6.2D is 379 cubic inches.

Thanks for reading, and spread the word! Misinformation is bad news for everyone.

A 5.3 is 325 cid. Using the bore and stroke from GM Powertrain for a code LC9 5.3 in the newest gen trucks that's what they state plus mathematically that's what it works out to be( I calculated 325.16 cid always carrying 5 decimal places). People like to believe whatever they chose so really writing all this is sorta pointless, lol.

a 327 is a gen I small block, a 5.3 is a gen III LS based engine. I've never heard anyone call a 6.0 a 396....the 396 was a big block anyways.

if we're just converting numbers here though, these may help:
1 cubic inch = 0.016387064 liter
1 liter = 61.0237441 cubic inches
the volume of a cylinder is pi*r^2*h where h is the stroke and r is 1/2 the bore, then you can multiply the result by the number of cylinders to get the total displacement in whatever units you used to measure the bore and stroke.

The old school 396 and the 6.0 are in such completely different classifications that they are barely worth comparing to each other.

Why wasn't the 396 "anything super special"?

its just a big block chev, came in trucks and cars, nothing any more special then a 454.

From a nostalgic perspective, among others, I have a tendency to severely disagree with your assertion, including the inclusion of the 454 into this "nothing super special" category.
