Found a mint early 90s light-duty K2500 in the junkyard today, and salvaged quite a few extra parts from it. Decided to take the throttlebody off its 350 so I could do the Ultimate TBI mods on a donor TBI and just R&R the two with no downtime.

Cleaned up all pretty, but I ran into the fuel pressure regulator and I'm a bit stumped. It had a LOT of fuel gunk and residue surrounding it, so I'm almost positive it was leaking like a sieve, but I'm curious as to what the potential functionality of this mod is:

It appears it was welded at the bottom? Can someone shed some light on this, or is this is an oddball factory feature I'm not aware of?
It kinda looks like someone just JB welded it and hoped it would stop leaking? :wtf2:

I have messed with a few of these and all of them looked like that.
