how do I remove the 2x-4x wheel drive switch from the dash on my 1997 Z71?

Not sure if your '97 is like my '98, but on mine you just remove the dash panel that surrounds the instrument cluster, radio and then squeeze the tabs and the switch pops out the front. (of course you have to unhook the wires first).

A couple of additional notes. It helps if the drink holder is pulled out, also put the steering wheel in the lowest position, and gear shift in the lowest setting. This gives you room to work.
