I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place.
I have a 1997 chevrolet c/k 3500 series and I looked in the fuse box in engine and noticed that the 20a fuel sol,30a aux fan,A.I.R. relay and diode 1 fuse spots are empty. Am I suppose to have fuses there?sorry for stupid question. Thanks

What engine? 2wd or 4wd? I can look at my '97 C3500 crew cab long bed pickup and see what it has, in the morning.
I do have a couple of pictures of the fuse block in the end of the dashboard, and the fuse list on the lid, they may be of assistance. My truck is 2wd with a 5.7(350).

In my experience you can tell if there should be a fuse there or not by looking into the fuse socket and checking if both contacts exist. If GM was anything in the 90s they were cheap and, as a result, didn't put both fuse contacts in a slot unless the circuit existed. Can see that in the pictures in the reply above: the empty slots only have a top tab.

This is assuming that your wiring is still factory.

Good to know, I had not noticed that!

Think this may be a 1999 Tahoe underhood fuse center.

It looks like the same things are missing there.

Not sure about the model year on this close up, but it shows some terminals are missing where there are no fuses.

Pretty certain a 1997 truck equipped with the factory aux cooling fan would/should have a relay (item #1 pictured below) hanging on the outside side of that fuse center, besides the small electric fan visible behind the grill/in front of the radiator.

Hope that helps, welcome to the forum.
