GMT400s with a BBC

Hey guys, Did the earlier (88-94) big block powered GMT400s come with a mark 4 or a mark 5 BBC?

They came with the Mark V, 1996 and later had the 6.

I believe the early trucks got MkIV's. The one pictured looks like a MkIV given the steel valve covers.

It does look like a Mark 4 to me..tomorrow I am pulling the rad on it..I will try to get some #'s if possible..
If I could carry it up the hill I could buy it for $60 lol..

So are you saying that you can carry a 454 as long as the ground is at least level???

The early 454 are the same as the early mid 80s. They have a cast 4 barrel intake with the TBI adapter. I had 2 of these, and were great motors. Had a **** ton of torque. And simple lol, wish I had one now.

The Mark IV ran until 91, 91-95 was Gen 5, and 96 up is Gen 6

LOL 454, it is quite a distance to carry the engine! There was stories of back in the day when they had the same "all you can carry" but it was all you could fit on a hood. Someone supposedly got a powerlifter to pull a hood with a engine on it up the hill!
I pulled a valve cover and got a casting #, it appears to be similar to the 236 "peanut port" heads and I do believe this verifies it as a mark 4..
