It seems like Ive been asked this question a thousand times, so I figured Id post links for everyone to see and maybe get it stickied. The true GMC Phantoms like mine are getting extremely hard to find but you can still buy the pieces for it. Use yours or get an oem gmc grill and get the 30 bar billet insert and the headlight and parking light pieces

here are the links for them

Have you had any issues with the 30 bar billet and the plastic grill? I have the same billet but my plastic grill broke at the bottom towards the middle. I sometimes thing that it may be a little to heavy for the plastic grill.

Nope, I know of alot of trucks running the 30 bar and Ive never heard that problem. But the billet makes the grill pretty heavy, especially with the headlight and parking light pieces so I could see that happening.

Man AVS did have a really good deal on some Phantom grilles for the 94+ chevy, but they may be gone now.

I am the same way, I like both, and that's why this time around for me I have both so I can swap back and fourth. Also I hear you on the expense, especially right now.

I have fixed mine twice already. I just learn to live with it. Once you cut the chrome ring out there is just so little material there. I suppose closing the hood doesn't help either.
Reinforcing it is probably a good idea.

I think I will try to reinforce mine then as well, because I don't want to have to buy another shell.
