What do you all believe is the best gear ratio for my truck? I rarely ever tow anything heavier than a light bass boat or dirt bike trailer. I love speed and gas efficiency. I feel like my truck is geared too high right now and I'm not sure what ratio is on it right now, it's about the only part of the truck I haven't changed yet.

I like the 373s with my 305...got about 20mpg on a long trip with CC set at 2500rpms (idk what speed) and has more pep than factory 3.08 gears. also mine is manual so that could make a difference

depends on the tire size. with a 29" tire i would say 3.73 is nice compromise but with a 31-32" i would go with a 4.10. with that said i wouldn't go from a 3.43 to a 3.73 as it would be a waist, but if you have the 3.08 then sure.

if you wanna play with some calculators to see what rpm's you would be running and what speeds then check these out

I like 3.42's and 3.73's, I have owned lot's of both, I also have owned several with 4.10's and with short stock tires and it suck's big time!

My black truck went from 3.42's to 3.73's. 29" tall tire. Sure woke up that little 4.3! The change killed my mileage, but that was mostly my fault, 'cause it was just so much more fun to hammer on it! Whenever it gets a 6.0, it's gonna be stupid giggle fun!
