Hi all-I had an offer from ebay to buy g80 governor as mine is broken and I like things to work as intended. I was just in contact with seller and it seems the ones he has for sale are army surplus for CUCV-that would be older square body blazer. The part number is correct-the only difference is the small numbers- 5.511(if I remember on another part I had it said something else) Now my question is-does anybody know if this part will fit my Tahoe? 3.73 rear end. I read somewhere there are 2 types of governors depending on carrier-do they mean one is for 8.5,8.6 and the other one fir 11.5 or are there any other differences as well?
I attach picture. Thanks for input

Those CUCV had the 14 bolt 10.5" full float axles and stock ratios we're 4.56...what axle do you have on your Tahoe?
10 bolt,3.73 8.5-and if cucv had 14 bolts 10.5 then maybe the governor I'm offered is not for cucv?
That one on the first pic is what's on offer-the other picture (from another auction)shows one for 14 bolt- the length of the teeth on the axle is different.
Last pic is my rear end.

They made a 8.5" 10 bolt, 9.5" 14 bolt and 10.5 14 bolt G80s.

You need to stay with the 8.5" if you are going to change parts. I would suspect the parts are not interchangeable within the different sizes.

Ah, yes, the CUCV had Detroit lockers...

Mhmm-I read somewhere on the other forums it was also eatons but maybe it was wrong info. This part is seemingly for 8.5 and 8.6 as I found another one and it seem to confirm it(same box and numbers on it. I find no mention of other part numbers, nor other governors anywhere on offer. Thank you all for your input.

That looks like it will work. I don't think that unit has really changed any since a long time ago. Eaton made/makes those G80s. Watch this video I've posted before:

It's entertaining to watch even though I've watched several times.

The CUCV trucks had the Detroit lockers. The blazer had the govbomb, but had 28 splines. 88-up will have 30 spline. I just sold an Eaton or auburn can’t remember but was a factory clutch type posi they came in caprices, roadmaster, n whatever other body style they share….
