Plain copper will work harden and break. It is not suitable for automotive brake use. Use NiCuFe, or use steel.
But copper works good too
Beat me to it.I hope that's not plain copper from the plumbing dept.
Copper DOES NOT "work". Burst strength is low, work-hardening/cracking is high. Copper tubing for brakes or for fuel is illegal, and rightly so.yea copper is not suitable. But will work. And NiCuFe is nicklecopper.
I used this,When it comes to a decent double-flaring tool, the really cheap tools are
only good to test your patience. On the other hand, spending $$$ on a
pro shop setup is hard for me to justify on a 'price-per-use' basis.
Given this, if you are looking for a no-frills budget tool that has never
failed to work for me (especially with NiCopp) is the OTC 4503 Stinger.
(Amazon link here.) According to the sticker, made in Taiwan.
Doesn't feel cheap in the hand, gotten flawless results from it.
Don't delay -- get rid of the PO's hackery asap!
Safe travels --
Good to know, thanks for sharing! I've read about that exact tool &I used this,xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_mediawith Nickle/Copper.
It worked very well.
The tool has a adjustable stop so all flares are the same ...
