You might be able to scratch your performance itch by just getting a tune. I used Black Bear for my tune and they were great.
Someone previously mentioned the 0411 swap with which you can tune yourself. You have to determine if you have the skills for it.
You asked about headers - shorties fit in place of the stock exhaust manifolds so are almost a direct bolt in and you get a little boost from them. Long tubes require some funky bends to get around the gas tank.
