Do all the GMT400 4x4 trucks have the motor offset a couple inches towards the passenger side?
Is this also true for 2wd trucks?

I haven’t noticed my 2wd to be offset. I do know that the frame horns are different from side to side to account for the steering gear box I believe.

They show the exact offset angles in the upfitters manuals for these trucks. It's super common for powertrains to be mounted with an offset for a variety of reasons.

Wouldn't surprise me, although I never paid attention.

Making room for the differential assy. along the left side of the engine is my guess.

My 88 C1500's engine is offset too. It counter balances my fat ass in the driver's seat

I never noticed before you have the 472,500,425 firing order under your avatar.

Thanks for all the replies! Here's a pic to show it. Frame is on second coat of sealing primer after 2 coats of etching primer.

Wonder if the offset is to counterbalance the fuel tank?

I noticed that my 2wd is offset too. The transmission tunnel is also, more foot rooms on the drivers side than passenger.
