Too bad you're so far away; I'd make you a killer deal on the e-fan setup on my truck...so I can go back to original. E-fans are fine but if my g/f is gonna drive this thing I want rock-solid factory reliability on it. Too many wires and relays for me to feel 100% comfortable with someone else driving it; someone that may not be watching the gauges like I would.

Thanks for the replies guys... I am all for making stuff myself and being crafty, but for this I was looking to splurge a bit and get something new and entirely dependable. Maybe a "be cool" kit from summit? Is there anything new that would be a drop in kit for our trucks? I thought I saw something before....

The be cool kit is a direct drop in. Yes it is pricey but it's worth every penny.

I did the popular "ford/Lincoln mark-8" E-fan in my truck......... mixed results....

Good: it fit into the stock fan shroud. it cooled the engine VERY well, didn't even need to run it on the higher amp/speed wire. it was quiet. it freed up noticeable HP, MPG, and throttle response =)
Bad: it seized up and I had to throw it away.... it did give warning by screeching loudly, but... the mechanical one never failed....

so now im torn between something that functions SUPER dependable, but costs me some power... or.. something that could leave me stranded and overall, free up power.....

id say buy a light weight fan to replace the stock metal one.... I've even heard of electric fans shattering if you hit water hard/deep enough... also bad

I was looking into the Painless pn#30140 fan controller,a set of fans off a 05-07 silverado and a 140amp alt upgrade but trying the the 11 blade fan and the right OEM fan clutch first. The previous onwer put some cheap crap on there that roared like crazy
