Hi guys, hope you're doing well. I have a 1999 K1500 ECSB and I would like to have a new radio. I want to have backup camera, a nice system, etc. However I'm conflicted as to what would be the best route to take in regards to the radio itself, namely whether I should go with modifying the factory dash panel, or if it would be worth it to use a brand new panel. With the full panel replacement I would have to paint it up to match (Ruby Red plus whatever that grey is) and I would avoid feeling like a jackass for cutting up factory plastic. But it would be much cheaper to modify the original dash. A single DIN pop-out/floating tablet is also an option but the selection is so slim plus they're much more expensive. Of you guys that have went for screens, do you wish you had went a different route?

I went with a single din and wish I bought the bezel and went double din. Theres a truck at the shop right now with the aftermarket bezel and it looks/fits very well.

If I can remember ill get a pic of it

I am heavily modifying my 92-ish dash for a Pioneer DMH2660NEX head unit unless an upgraded model comes out before
I get it done.

This is my 99 Suburban.

As you can see, I bought the install kit.
If I were to do it again, I'd buy the full bezel & try my hand @ color matching it.

I found that trimming my bezel for trim to fit to very tedious.

Trimming the actual dash to get your radio to fit will be a case by case process. Just use a dremel & only take a little out @ a time.
