I am almost down with installing my dakota gauges in my 89 with 5.7 350. I am stuck on the speedometer sensor part. Has anybody installed a dakota kit and know what wire I need to hook up? On the factory connector there are wires for speed sens hi, and lo,speed signal cruise and speed signal ecm and speed signal (rwal). Any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Did you get any guidance from Dakota? You got the factory wiring diagrams?

That was too long ago for my CRS to kick in. I think it should be directly from the VSS (~2000 PPM). I'm guessing Speed Sens hi, the others are pass-through signals. IIRC, when you calibrate the Speedometer (either by GPS or Mile Post timing), it doesn't change the output to the ECM or CC. To get my ECM calibrated, in EBL, there's a value that you adjust to match the Speedometer. With 275/60R15 tires, it worked out to ~2417 PPM. YMMV

Thank you playingwithtbi.
Hope it helps - thinking a little further - the Speed sense hi/low may be referring to PPMs. If so, yours will be the "low" connection since GM had 2000/4000 PPM. Our earlier GMT400s used 2000 (IIRC somewhere around 95+ went to 4000 but, don't quote me). I would guess, if your speedometer reads about 1/2 what it should be, you're on the wrong input, LOL.
