Is there room for a mechanical fuel pump in these trucks? sure looks tight, I guess you did your homework on that issue.

Depending on the year of truck and engine being used...iirc the tbi and vortec blocks do not even have a provision for a mechanical pump.

Some TBI and Vortec engines use the same blocks. The only provision needed is the hole that goes through the block. Some had them, some didn't. There's only one way to check. Pull the cover plate and look.

If yours doesn't have it, the machine shop should be able to mill it in no problem.

If you want to spend the money, there are a few companies that make jigs you can do it yourself.

My 92 and my 94 had the fuel pump spot on the block, no cover, no hole, and you will need a cam with the fuel pump drive on it

Hmm, didn't know they actually had blocks without the mounting holes drill. Regardless, the jig comes with the drills and taps for that as well.

Yes. Just remove the pushrod, and bolt on a cover plate. I run a belt driven fuel pump/power steering pump combo.
