Cowl or factory hood?? Can’t decide

Repainting roof and hood- should I stay factory hood or go 2” cowl?

If cowl, 2 tone or solid color?

My opinion here - a cowl hood is only cool if you actually need the clearance. Putting a cowl hood over a factory induction setup is posing. If you're gonna go cowl, you need to step up and put a tunnel ram on it!

That hood isnt in too bad of shape besides the paint though. You could probably sell it for a small return on the price of the cowl

I hear you! Not going to lie though- it would completely be for looks only; kind of like the lifted 4x4’s that will never see a mud hole!

I don't agree with that, as even in a factory EFI application, a functioning cowl hood will substantially lower underhood temps. Thus decreasing IAT's, allowing better performance and lower spark knock counts, even on a stock engine.

I've spent quite a bit of time researching this on stock and modified trucks, across the 100+ i've built.

Extra airflow is never a bad thing

I liked the one on my 1969 Camaro, but you would think by now all the bright engineers with computers would have come up with something more modern and different for trucks.

I debated this with myself for quite some time. I had a cowl hood on my C10 and loved it. But, my final answer was no and I'm happy with that decision. The clean look has a lot to say.
