Aah, this brings me back. As an engineer I worked on this cupholder project back in the 80s. The cupholders were definitely a factory option and were manufactured by Prince Corporation in Holland Michigan. This is the same company that became super wealthy because they patented the illuminated sunvisor. When Edgar D Prince passed away the family sold the business to Johnson Controls for billions.
I remember sourcing many of these cupholders for friends that had GMT400’s.
I should’ve stockpiled them so I could sell them on eBay.

My dad's 93 had the dash mounted cupholder with the bucket seats and console. Back in 1993, having 4 cupholders in a truck was something special indeed.
I removed a 60/40 bench and installed buckets and a console so I have both , the console cupholders are pretty shallow and useless except for change . I have gotten to the point if I see a dash piece or interior panel at a good price I buy it just in case .

I wonder if having a bench seat had anything to do with it, bucket seats had the console with cup holders .
my 96 c1500 which my dad uses has a single cup holder, normal radio, ac, bench seat but it does have a flip down arm rest im almost certain. not sure if has console tho. kinda sits far away on the right side of dash panel next to the passenger basically.

Here are some pics of the OE 1994 and earlier cup holders.

One of the best designs ever :) they fit a traditional foam Koozie perfectly. I dunno about coffee cups as I don't drink coffee. I installed them in pretty much every 88-94 GMT400 I had if it didn't already come with one.

They fit other stuff too.. like Negra Modelo bottles :D (don't drink and drive, kids; this was a garage session while installing the Grant steering wheel)

Even put one in my Suburban with buckets and console w/cupholders. As you can see I'm a fan of the Grant billet and leather wheels, lol.. always kept a Koozie handy in the cupholder for when I'd grab a Coke, so I'd always have a Koozie to keep it cold and steady in the cupholder.
