Thanks guys, I never knew about the access panel under the rear seat. I have to sell my toolbox first before I can install the antennas and run wires. God knows when the box will sell, hopefully if I get enough I can have local CB shop do a professional installation. Why? I don't want to screw it up haha

That's not a bad idea either. Even though it seems simple, you can mess up thing pretty bad if you don't get the antenna's programmed right. I burnt up the first two CB's I ever tried installing by not knowing how to properly do it.

I have been around a ton of cbs and cb set ups, Im a truck driver. You are always better off with just one antenna, then you dont have them fighting each other. I run 2 Firestick second series adjustable with one coax. Our fleet all run cbs tweeked and tuned withe sodered coax cables. We can talk up to 5 miles apart in the hills. If you do have a professional cb shop do the work, have them walk you through the set up so you dont burn it up

What about whip antenna on the back bumper? I have one but I still need to install it as well I guess the only thing holding me back is where to place and tune the antenna and last having to drill a hole in the cab.

I have a magnetic antenna but then I might have a water leak running the cable out the door so for now im using a Escort 8500 X50 radar detector.

The only bad thing about that set up is that the coil on the antenna will be below the highest body line of the truck.

I run firestiks on all my trail rigs and on my pickup, I have the antenna mounted to the back of my cap and run teh coax down, under the truck, through the fire wall. Here is what I have learned with Firestik antennas.

1. Do not cut the coax to shorten it, they are designed to use the entire cable that comes with the antenna.
2. 1 antenna will perform better than 2
3. try to get the tip of the antenna at least 2 ft above the top of the vehicle
4. get your self an SWR meter and properly tune the antenna.

As for the mounting of my CB, Mine is on a very simple bracket that is mounted just in front of hte center console on the trans hump. I am running a 29 LTD classic in my truck and by jeep and buggy both have 19DX that I got dirt cheap from walmart. I am thinking of putting a 19DX in the dash where the factory CD was, I have not yet measured or attempted this, but I think it would make for a more convient and cleaner mount.
Lastly, I have not seen a difference in CB transmission between the $100 CB and the $30 CB with a properly mounted and tuned antenna.

Do you have any pictures of the antennas or CB mount in the cab?

Routed my antenna wires up through the drain holes in the front of the bed and then used the round holes in the bottom of the front bed stake pockets to mount the antennas. When I remove the antennas there is basically nothing showing on the exterior, the antennas get screwed down inside the stake pockets. It works well for me, I don't use the CB much, theft is sometimes a problem around my area and antennas must be removed before I pull in the garage anyway. The radios are also mounted in my console for low visibility.

I would suggest a radio frequency scanner to go along with the CB, the model listed in the OP doesn't have a scan feature from what I can tell. When traveling I turn the CB on but the scanner is doing most of the listening/monitoring.
