Best tran for a 454?

I have a 4L80E from my 2wd 94 Suburban Diesel that I will trade for your NV4500 setup.

Be warned, 4L80E transmissions need a computer or be converted to a full manual to run.

Without a computer you will have 2nd and Reverse.

The aftermarket computers are around $700.00

I had a 97 454 nv4500 truck and it was plenty fast for a truck. Burnouts while pulling trailers and all...
The 454 tbi is really only made to pull heavy loads, not accelerate fast. As was mentioned before, maybe a bit better gearing with 95 nv4500 is all that is needed

This is for a 95-00 nv4500, but they make ones for the earlier years too...

keep in mind, the idle of the vehicle varies from manual to automatic by the computer. I think the manuals run abt 50 to 75 rpms higher than a automatic. a well built, updated' as far as automatic trans, youre going to need something stout. have u considered some gear changes in the rear end instead?
