Anyone know what this switch does and another brake question?

Its mounted right in front of the brake pedel in my 91 Chevy.

My 92 GMC does not have this......

And my other question is: is there a way to tighten the brake pedal because I have to pull up on it to turn off the brake lights.

That's a older style switch for the cruise. I believe when there is no pressure from the break pedal it cancels the cruise

That looks identical to the switch that is behind the clutch pedal in my truck. In the manual trucks you have to have that switch pressed in (clutch pedal to the floor) to start the truck.
