I'm confused as crap on my 88 k1500's egr valve, from what I seen online some sites say the gm part no. 17087196 egr is for a truck with man trans. others say auto. some say calif. emissions, but I don't think it have that not being built or from CA.

Reason I ask is because i gotta buy a new one and I want to make sure I get the right one.

The block casting numbers are from an 87-95 350 for sure, but the suffix is ve2 and I can't find it anywhere's it's not listed in anything from 88-95 although they don't have alot of 95 info. Plus the trans that was in it looked like a 2wd trans since they had a spacer to take up the slack between it and the t-case.

I found several different egr part numbers that are supposed to replace the oe part no.

If I get the wrong one though what would happen? bad idle on something? would it make much difference if it was for a man trans. instead of auto or something?

So far I came up with...

4f1014
4f2018
egv628
egr126
egr103d

the cheapest was the 103d from advance, plus it's local that way if it aint right I can return it. I already ordered one wrong one from amazon and gotta return it.

If I remember correctly......if you have an original GM EGR on your truck you can use the part# stamped on it's flange to cross reference the new EGR part # needed. You'll also have to be sure to install the correct spacer/washer in it or your trucks trouble light could throw a code.

yea that's how you have to figure out the one you need. I wonder if the gm part no. is the right one for this truck, and I plan on buying one that matches this part no.

I don't think this one would use a washer under it, the one I bought does, but it's the wrong part no. and mines got a lil stub that sticks out on the bottom, the factory ones does, the new one I got that's wrong does not.

The stupid thing never throw the egr code, it just ran kinda funny at cold idle and such, and I found out it won't hold vac. and when i took it off going to change it, figured out they were different, had the wrong one, found my gm number, and cleaned the bottom up before I put it back on, now it throws a code 32 and runs even worse on idle LOL.

Did you check your vac lines for hair line cracks ?
Reason I'm asking is because there should be 2 or 3 that runs from your Throttle Body across the top of the intake manifold**heat** and will give you poor/idle issues as they age, get brittle and crack.
That was an issue I had with my 95 TBI 350. Replaced those for
less than $5.00 and that was the fix.

Also, I'm pretty sure I have my old stock GM EGR Valve that I removed from my 95 Silvy (TBI 350). If you want it you can have it.
It worked fine when on my truck and was only replaced because but I got a great deal on a bunch of new GM parts a few years back from a dealer that was closing.

what's the number on it? If it holds vac. it might work fine for me, it be worth trying to see if it'd work.

As for vac. lines, yep done changed em, they had holes rubbed in them and others I just ditched and replaced.

There should be a #44 Orifice Spacer Washer in yours. If there is none that could very well be your problem right there.
The 1 I have is #17087194
280 41N
It requires a #42 Orifice Washer.

It worked fine on my truck but I'd still give it a good cleaning before installing it.
As for the orifice, it's basically just a spacer washer that come with different size center
hole openings. Some EGR's need 1 and some don't but I have heard of it effecting
vaccuum. The EGR you have should need a #44 and I have an extra you can have.
I'll send it to you along with install instructions & the EGR Valve. Shoot me your addy and
I'll mail them out Monday.

It's been awhile and many engine since I installed mines but I recall seeing a round hole for the orifice on the intake manifold mounting side that the EGR Valve bolts to. Be very careful not to drop/let it fall down inside the engine when installing it.
