Probably for the same reason I suggested heat and penetrating oil. Luckily I had a spare bracket, but I had to pull the P/S pump pulley, unbolt the pump, swap the bracket, etc turning a 15 minute alternator replacement into a 2 hour job.I won't ask you how you know that.
My 97 k1500 has a chunk missing. It was like that when I bought it. I don't doubt a hammer may have been involved.Probably for the same reason I suggested heat and penetrating oil. And it was 111° the next day at the treasure yard. You must be registered for see images attach
Or make!Since it's a casting, and tolerances are a little vague, with the mount and AC or AC delete bracket this was the next best idea. At least they are not some heavier washer spacers that would get lost, then be like gold to find probably.

Sometimes having an engine that doesn't leak oil is not a good thing.I feel your pain. When you turn your back for second," here I'll get that for you" . The unskilled do gooder . You know the kind of help you don't need.
