If the oraface tube is clogged you will be discharging all of the freon out of the system during the process of changing the tube... So it is up to you if you want to change it and lose the fron you have already put in or see if it will work without changing the tube

If this is a '98, than there is no freon. R12 was already gone and R134a is what your system uses. And if you open up your system without evacuating it, you are putting dangerous chemicals in the air. If you breathe it directly it, expect a possible trip to the ER. And it's a crime to open it with evacuating the system.

Not to mention the possibility of frostbite. Best to beg, borrow, or bribe the use of a professional AC machine. That way you have an accurate diagnosis and don't lose all the refrigerant, hence my comment on evacuating the system first.

If you jump the high pressure switch plug on the accumalater, the high pressure switch is unplugged, therefore the compressor won't be cut off by the high pressure switch. R134A is still considered to be a freon, and don't waste money on an evacuation machine unless you really want to save the freon, it does harm the enviroment, but so does running your truck, chemical plants, and many many other things, so no its not a very responsible thing to do, but it wouldn't be the end of the world, its not like your releasing freon on a daily basis. But as someone posted before, DO NOT LET IT SRRAY YOU IN THE FACE, best thing to do is borrow or invest in some AC gauges. And if I'm not mistaken, isn't the orfice tube located in the condenser on the 98's?
