Adding a GM 12 Disc Changer to a 2000 Classic 2500

I am in the process of restoring a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 Classic crew cab short box. The truck came with a radio/tape deck and slave cd player under the HVAC controls. I have removed the cd player and installed the pocket. I then added a radio/cd player combo to replace the tape deck. I have also added a remote 12 disc changer under the rear seat. Everything worked great with the original radio/tape deck, but when I added the radio/cd player combo, my remote changer no longer works and the radio does not recognize the changer. Does anyone know if the radio/cd combo units did not support remote cd changer capabilities? I cannot find any info on this, and hoping I can get it working somehow. TIA!

I have the 12 CD changer you speak of, but I have no clue how it works since I've never had a cd sleeve for it since I got the truck. But it's also stock, so I dont know what to tell you if you're adding it to an aftermarket radio.

I'm not adding an aftermarket radio!! All I did was remove the OEM tape deck radio and install an OEM CD play radio.

Well considering that the CD one isnt stock for a 400, I'll guess at the separate CD changer being incompatible.

Not the one you have. The 400s came with a slave player under the HVAC or the CD Changer under the passenger seat (that's what my Suburban came with).
