a/c not turning on

97 gmc sierra With the fan switch in the off position the compressor works fine. When i turn the fan to any position the light goes out and the a/c stops working. I just replaced the fan switch but still the same thing. Where do i go from here ?

You replaced the fan switch or the entire control head?

just the fan switch as of now. Do u think its the entire control unit? This morning it went all the way out. Now the a/c isnt turning on at all. I guess i will replaced the control unit.

With your symptoms, that would likely be a good next step.
