Will this setup work with an older model 454 (carb/dizzy) swapped into my 1996 C1500? It previously had a 5.7L vortec, if that helps.

Could it be made to work? Definitely. Would it be plug and play? Probably not. I would expect some belt alignment headaches at a minimum. I haven't attempted what you're describing so the help I can offer is limited.
