97 short wide build! help!!!!

i have a 97 chevy shortwide with the 350 vortec its got a new 700r4 and 12 bolt rear end posi trac.. but im starting on the motor i have a programmer in it already came with the truck and i was going to start off with some bolt on mods such as headers but i need to find out what are a good set of headers and i know vortec heads are some off the best flowing heads gm makes but should i change them and the truck also has a random missfire and i have no idea why changed the plugs and cap and rotor but still there? any ideas? what should be the steps on building a good street/strip truck?

still have the misfire? is the computer throwing any other codes or just the random misfire one?

ck for the eng light if not ck for a vaccum leak or something not right and it will tell on its self.
