I finally got around to cleaning up some of my rebuild/build.

I installed my stock skid plate that goes from the bumper down to the cross member, the rubber flap things in the wheel wells, and fixed my washer fluid button.

skid plate (yes its filthy)

I'll either get another switch to put there for something or I'll get another panel thing at the junk yard.

I got a set of step bars for free. They were off a chev of some kind, but the previous owner cut the brackets with a sawzall. I also have some family members tipping the scales at over 300lbs that I drive around in my truck on occasion. With all of this in mind, out came the welder and the fun began. They arent on yet, but getting there.

test mounting with clamps so I knew how big and where to mount them

more to come. And before anyone says it, I like it better with out, but I need them for one simple reason:

I still need to pull the bars off and polish them as well as paint my brackets which are bare steel right now. I also need to figure out how to mount my step surface, and one last element I want to add. I dont want to give that away though just in case I chicken out.

Todays work so far:

got the bars off, did some grinding and wire wheel work on the brackets and frame, then started priming

then I used a spray on bedliner made by Plasticote. This stuff and I are now in a heated love affair. It goes on amazingly, covers even better, and looks killer. I cant wait to see if it hold up to the pounding like I hope it does.
