guys, trucks been idling rough, and erratic ... check engine light came on- have a hunch is at least the fuel pressure regulator, maybe fuel pump too. Dropped off at trusted shop- what’s a guess as to the bill to replace an inexpensive part since it seems time/labor intense taking the intake off?

    Thanks,

Book time is probably two or three hours for pulling the upper intake and swapping injectors out. Parts markup is anyone’s guess, but I’d guess $1000 for a shop to replace the injectors /regulator with the same poppet ones that it came with.

Barely $300 if you do it yourself with multiport injectors. It’s not that big of a job.

A random misfire code is always fun. Could just be an ignition issue.

Ya, chasing a random misfire can be a PITA. I tried everything on my 98 and nothing fixed it. Im just about confident that its a cracked head now. Hope yours is just something simple. If they do decide to change out the spider injection then make sure they use the new style one from Delphi or AcDelco.

Glad to report back that I did just have a vacuum leak at the brake booster- glad to know there are still honest shops out there- $50 vs $1,000 or more- whew. Thanks guys-

When I see a P0300 "random misfire" code, I look at the scan tool to see if it's a consumer-grade piece of crap.

Junk scan tools may display P0300 when the REAL code could be P0304--cylinder 4 misfire, for example.

The misfire may not be random at all--but shiity scan tools lie.

What significance does the "B" have?
