I didn;t even ask why they think they would do $4500 worth of damage. I just kind of chuckled and told them I'd be by to pick it up before close. That's a crazy quote for the A/C repair. What in the world would cost $4500 to repair?
I had pretty much everything replaced last year after my compressor blew in my 88'. A new compressor, condenser and dryer only ran me $1200 installed. You should try and find an independent shop that only does A/C work.
Nice truck, I like that you're taking it back to it's original form.
I just can't do it anymore lol. My girlfriend complains, I complain to her/my parents/friends, they all complain about my complaining. I hate showing up to work or class sweaty. It's ridiculous lol.Going without air conditioning in Texas seems crazy! I go without it in Minnesota, but am just barely willing to do that.
This is not my first run in with City Garage. I've had one bad experience with brakes there. Should've learned my lesson. My grandmother swears by them which is why I took it there in the first place. Makes me wonder how much they've taken her for. That's an unreal quote for the a/c! Shops here will do compressor, accumulator, condenser, charge, yadda yadda for around 1100 on one of these trucks. The evaporator in the dash is significantly extra.

Thanks! It's definitely being considered. I've owned stock and lifted. Curious if I'd like lowered. Getting the truck mechanically sound is the top priority before I dump unnecessary money into it. I learned my lesson from my high school days as I am paying for it now.Awesome thread. I think lowering on factory 20's would look GREAT on your truck. That Tahoe you posted looks really good
