How much trouble was it, to graft in the body line at the rear corners of the cab? It looks good, and I think the "cut notch" should have been there from the beginning. Apparently the company that made the crew cab cabs for GM, had an issue and couldn't make that, which is odd considering all the single and extended cab trucks got it.....
Funny you mentioned that. I didn't realize that was "a thing" until a few days ago watching Shorty's dream shop. Something so simple.

Since I have a crew cab...and I look at that anomaly on the cab every time I'm in the truck....
I just thought I would ask.
Really wasn’t too much trouble. It had been very poorly formed into the original C pillar by the OG builder of the truck using what seemed like a hammer and chisel.
So we cut that yuck out and I just got some cuts out of a short cab, along with a piece to smooth out the third brake light.
Cut, trim, MIG in place, hammer and dolly the seams nice and flat. Job done

G'Day from across the ditch. Definitely start a build thread as there is so much going on with your truck and we wouldn't want to miss any of the detail your putting into it. How tough are the regulations on modifying vehicles where you are?

Im building an 88 with traditional small block with 700R4 trans and using the Sniper Stealth and full Hyperspark CDI/Dist/coil instead of the TermX. Using a Chiltons manual for wiring diagrams I labeled every wire at each connector, then one by one de-pinned ones I don’t need from the ECM. Mainly all the emissions wiring. Some of the heat/AC controls run through the ECM on some of these trucks and the ECM sends torque converter lockup control signal to the 700R4 trans. It was already built up and fresh ready to go.

The large pink wire that came from drivers side bulkhead that sent power to the OE coil is my switched crank/run Sniper power. I also used that wire through a relay (main power MUST be sent through relay) to power the CDI box and Hyperspark distributor and throttle body. I spoke to Holley tech and they verified it’s such a small draw to power distributor and CDI box (.5 each) they can be run together. The wires to those are incredibly small gauge. I also used the Sniper power harness with relay to power fuel pump. All I did was pull the OE 12 volt wire out of the FP connector at tank, ran the Holley wire back (larger gauge than OE) in its place and put new OE style pin connector on it into OE connector. Other side of that connector I power and ground a Aeromotive drop in pump/sending unit so it all looks factory and is weatherproof.

I mounted the CDI box in my glovebox, made a backing plate from aluminum with four rivnuts (nut inserts) placed it behind plastic box and bolted CDI to it. I also made a couple small supports to mount under glovebox to give it support with added weight of CDI box bolted in. It’s power and ground are ran out through original bulkhead on lower passenger side (unused OE wires and potting removed) and sealed up with new potting material. To get power for coil and distributor from CDI while glovebox was out I unbolted the AC relays on top the air box and that let me get a straight shot through firewall in correct location away from other power wires. Made a little bulkhead plate with o-rings to seal it up.

Link to my build thread. I also show the electric fan relay setup by Current Performance for ground trigger fan signals from Holley unit. Link to it in that thread.
