Grandson has 88 K2500 4.3 V6 w/5speed manual. Can anyone tell me stock transmission ID #?
His transmission will not go into 1st or 2nd. Any ideas what could swap or suggestions on where to find rebuild?

Thanks

I'd suspect a bent or broken shift fork or garbage in the detent. I rebuilt an RX-7 transmission once and a little metal shaving got into the detent. It was two weeks before I could get back into the transmission, and I shifted 1-2---5 that entire two weeks. I had to hit at least 6,000 rpm in 2nd to get it going fast enough so it could accelerate in 5th.
