Deven and i had this exact conversation on another forum we are both on. If you want an LSX engine you are far better off doing the extra wiring and gaining the MPFI.

Agreed. But if you need it to run immediately and don't have the cash you can at least get the LS going on your TBI system. Then you can upgrade as you go. You will be reducing the LS motors output but don't be mistaken, it will still be a huge improvement over an L05 or any other Gen 1 for that matter.

It is counter productive in terms of power but its the easiest way to get it to run. Essentially it is converting the LS to run on an electronic carb. Better cold start and emissions than a carb, easier to get results than a full MPFI swap. From there you can start getting the rest of the parts together while being able to drive the truck.

TBI is junk compared to MPFI. There's no reason to do the swap of that's your plan.

An LS swap isn't something you're gonna do in a weekend. Your method is just a waste of time and resources. If you're gonna do it, do of right the first time.

Agreed....The only place i wanna see a Carbed LSX is in a hotrod thats stripped down of non essential electronics and anything that dont make it go stupid fast.

Pretty sure that's what I said. MPFI is far superior. The only reason to do TBI is if you have the money for the long block but not the ECM or required accessories. It will require no tuning or wiring. MPFI is the ultimate goal but some people don't have the resources. I'm not recommending it, I'm explaining the option. I did it, and its remarkably easy, but I also finished it with an MPFI a couple months later. I picked up a ton of power even with TBI and the only mod needed was relocated motor mounts. It isn't the best option, it is the easiest and cheapest.

Wrong, it will require tuning, and a carb intake. That's just a waste of money.

Op, please just do it correctly the first time if your doing an ls swap. And if you need your truck ASAP, buy another 5.7 from your local dealer or autoparts dealer. Then save up and buy the ls and everything to do the swap correctly and do it when you don't need the truck ASAP.
