I believe this was the actuator... everything I could find pointed to this. If I pulled it, let it hang, and hit the 4hi or 4lo it should have moved, right?

This is a vid of me with the truck in neutral, switching from 2hi to 4hi to 4lo. Button still flashing, but you can hear the "clunk" of it switching. Just never engages the front wheels.

Yep, like I said in the other thread, it should have actuated.

Replaced the actuator and now it is fully engaging. Thank goodness. I did also learn these are heat sensitive and since it is cold here they take a while to actuate and fail more often.

But now I have a bigger problem. When engaging into 4hi, after about 20-25mph, the front end starts jumping like I'm hitting bumps. I looked out the window and it looks as if the front may be spinning faster than the rear tires. I'm going to try to pull the front diff and see what gears are there. The PO said it had 4.10 gears but I am guessing both sets weren't switched. Just the rear.

Just an update to my situation. My truck has floor shift for the tcase.Shift tends to pop out of low range when I try to move truck.A Trans specialist took truck it for a test drive, slammed it into 4wh hi at 50mph with a noticeable grinding of gears,Is that the noise he asks? Duh! He put it on a lift the next day, started truck put tcase into 4wd said front axel was engaged but front wheels would not turn.Later he said that he could not make the noise it had been making and he could not get into 4wd at all.Diagnosis is that the shift forks are ground off.He did NOT take tcase out and open it.When I got the truck home I was able to shift back and fourth between hi and low range and move the truck. It felt as though it was in lo when I moved truck.Shift did pop out of lo several times.Without jacks stands I can't tell for myself if the front wheels are getting power.I will try and remove the actuator and check it.By the way it has been very cold. The actuator appears to be of aluminum,at least the exterior does.Any of this makes sense?
