I have a C1500 stepside with a 8,5" rear axle, my gear is 3.08:1 and I want to change it to a 454-SS 9,5" rear axle with 3.73:1 instead. Do my DJM FK 1025-6 flipkit fit the 454SS axle?. Or must I buy me a new flipkit type 1026-7 instead.

I live in Sweden so I like every answer you can give....

One Q more...

I have a G80 diff but I want to change that too....should I go with a Lamell-Diff, Cone-Diff or a Torsen-Diff ????....

Those 3.73's are really gonna wake up the performance!
That second kit you listed is for a dually. Don't know if the axle tubes are the same size as the 454SS rear. Seems to me they are. That would be the only difference that I could think of. Maybe one of the 454SS guys could confirm.

The posi carrier that I prefer is the Eaton style. The one with the springs, plates, & clutches. A true posi. They'll handle a bunch of power thrown at them, & they are fully rebuildable. They can also be modded with different springs so that the lock-up is either 'tight', 'loose', or anywhere in between that you prefer.

Check these guys out. They've been around for years. Pretty good reputation around here.

I think you could get any 9.5" out of a 2wd truck and just swap the shafts and drums for 5 luggers. You'll have to order them new probably, but that will be easier than finding a complete 454SS rear end. Then you get your choice of 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10.

Considering the only other 2wd that would have used a 9.5 would be a C2500LD which is almost as difficult to find as the 454 that may not work really. Most 14 bolt SFs were the wider 4x4 version used in K2500LDs and F44 packaged K1500s. The C2500LD 14bolt 6 lug axle may or may not match the width of the 454SS axle.
