I just upgraded the rear on my 98 to the 14 bolt. I have the all the parts for the rear, just need advice on the front diff.

I know it is a GM CHEVY 8.25" IFS FRONT END, I have been looking on craigslist and LKQ for a complete front diff axle assembly in 4.10 out of a silverado, sierra, tahoe, suburban, but have had no luck. Other than the ring and pinion for 4.10s, what else will I need? Bearings, shims, etc? And how long will the job take hour wise to change out the front diff from your guys experience? Thanks

Since its the front, I am going for the cheaper route, since I use the 4x4 just when towing the boat, or hitting trails once every few months when I get a weekend off. I imagine the easiest route is getting a complete front diff assembly from junkyard in 4.10 (GT5) but they seem rare to find tho..

half tons very very rarely had 4:10, it would have been special order, 3:42 and 3:73 were the standard gears with the 3:73 being in the tow package

Are their any 2500's from 88-98 that were the same size front end IFS as a K1500? Like the light duty six lug 2500? or Heavy duty suburban's?

the 7200gvw(6 lug) 2500 is the same 8.25 ifs front, 1500 burban is also the 8.25 unless it has a 6.5 diesel, then its the same 9.25 as the 8600gvw 2500 and 3500

unless your truck is awesome like my 04, factory 4:10s FTW. OP you would need an install kit and gear set, get the master install kit if you end up regearing
