OK gang, next question.

I found one of the "rare" 2000 Tahoe Z71's that were built on the GMT400 platform for sale.

It's a good price original owner and less than 100k miles.

I understand that engine and drivetrain wise they are no different than any other 99 'Hoe (5.7L Vortec, 4L60e trans, 10 bolt rear).

BUT according to Wikipedia they came with:
" the Z71 off road chassis package (3/4 ton suspension/springs, 46 mm (1.8 in) Bilstein shock absorbers, a standard 3.73 rear gear ratio G80 locking differential),"

I do not have the VIN or the RPO codes yet.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks

CMC

If I recall correctly the only difference that appeared with 100% certainty in the Z71 package was the Bilstein HD shocks. I believe other members have said that they owned Z71s with factory 4.11s, 3.42s, etc. Not sure if the G80 was included with all Z71s or not, I'm sure someone else can clarify.

Z71 does not guarantee a g80 or 3.73s. My friend here on campus has a z71 with an open diff with 3.42s

I'll agree with ^^^. There is no single "standard" Z71 gear ratio or carrier setup.

I would imagine that 373s are most common, and 3.42 and 4.10s were less common, and posi was a crapshoot haha

^^This shows black front brush guard and taillight guards as standard. Really?

I'm leaning more towards removed from the package before ever being put on the truck.
