I have a 1993 light duty 2500 and all the wires for the 4 wheel drive have been broken off the front differential. Including the wires to the actuator. My question is this. Can I just run new wires to the actuator and to a toggle switch on the dash? And simply turn it on when I pull the lever to engage the transfer case or will running full battery voltage burn out the actuator? Thank you.

Why make more work for your self than you need to? Repair the wires that are there. When you pull the lever to engage the 4WD a switch is closed and sends power to the actuator, adding an extra switch just adds an unnecessary step

The problem is that the wires that go into the differential, not the ones going to the actuator, are broken off right at the differential case. I can repair the ones that go to the actuator, but will it work with the other wires being broken? I am not sure what they are for. Thank you

I think that you are referring to the Indicator switch wiring. As long as the actuator is working correctly the front axle will engage, you just will not get a indicator light letting you know that the axle is engaged.
