Swapped in the 454, most of the stuff works now. Still no Speedo. Was working before the swap. Swapped the engine harness and dash harness from the 1994 into the 89. Now does the speed sensor change from the earlier model? Should I try and swap in the later model transfer case wiring harness?

On a side note:
I’ve asked a bunch of the peeps who think they know chevy’s and they all said that the 454 TBI should be a straight swap into the 1989 350 truck. Well that’s not a fact.
The engine swaps over, but:
-Engine harness needs to be Swapped
-dash harness needs to be swapped
Headlight harness needs to be swapped
-AC needs to be swapped. The input and output hoses hit the bracket
-AC lines and condenser need to be swapped.
-Dash needs to be modified to accept the later model cluster connector
-Radio needs to be swapped over
-ECU needs to be swapped
-brake switch connector needs to be modified to work with the older style brake switch
-Exhaust needs to be modified

89 to 89 would been more direct swap on wiring but 89 to 94 wiring. GM made big changes to cluster, ecu, wiring harness. And 89 Speedo was converted in cluster and the 94 had a DRAC module external to cluster that converted signal
