Some of the bread truck 4BT's already have the GM transmission adapter plate too. You could easily bolt up a 4L80E run by a standalone controller, or rig a GM ECM to work as a controller.

4bt can make way more power than a 6.5td.but I am fond of these motors. I stuck with a 6.5 when mine got tired and I could have done a 5.9 swap. Just way easier staying GM. Also check out Ted's take outs. He gets low mileage 6.5td from hummers and military trucks. The use the upgraded 506 or diamond casting. Like an optimizer. That is what I did. They're way more dependable than the Ole GM castings heads blocks and cooling passages
