    Crew cab speakers help

It may help to remove the lower portion too. The clips on the back side of my x-cab panels were a pain, so I just took everything out. Be careful not to break off the tabs holding the clips by forcing it. Pull straight out with even steady pressure and it should come off.

    The Stupid Engine Questions Thread

I have an 89 k1500. where is the vehicle speed senor (vss) located on this thing? I looked under it and the only wires I can see are a pigtail going to the top of the transfer case assuming its the indicator light, and one going to the output shaft on the t-case. NP 241C The haynes manual says...

    Rant: don't buy Stanley tools

My brother has a Stanley ratchet set that I don`t much care for. As previously said, I don`t like how it feels and seems kinda cheesy. Granted, the cobbled together set of tools I have is far from optimal and has a wrench or socket or extension from every brand under the sun. Strangely enough...

    Low idle, stalling- 1988 Chevy K2500 4x4 w/ 350

I know for a fact my egr isn`t working properly with all of the soot stuff I cleaned out, so essentially mine is blocked off too. Any air leaks be it base gasket on the TBI or elsewhere will cause erratic idle and vacuum problems. If the other areas are good, ensuring the TBI base gasket is good...

Header wrap & spark plug boots...

Wanting to put some headers on soon, and wondering about your opinions on these two things. I`ve seen people wrap their headers completely, and seen no wrap too. Also if I don`t wrap them, should I run the little spark plug protector boots? Some people say these are a gimmick and some run them...

    Low idle, stalling- 1988 Chevy K2500 4x4 w/ 350

My truck had this problem until recently. When I replaced the IAC, I cleaned my TBI unit as best I could, replaced the base gasket, and re-installed the unit. Problem was a little better but not solved 100%. This last week I had to redo my intake gaskets, so the TBI came off again, was...

Where can I buy 4.10 gears for a good price?

I`m looking into getting new gears for my 89 K1500 ECSB. I have already gone up from stock to 285 75 tires and it caused a little bit of "lag" on acceleration. Currently running 3.73s and using the speed calculators I found online, the difference at 2200 rpms in OD on a 700R4 is about 7 MPH. It...

    The Engine p##n Thread

My 89 k1500 Just buttoned this up the other day. Nothing special... Just redid my intake and valve cover gaskets and while I was at it, repainted them high temp high gloss black :) Also recently did my wheel wells and battery tray...

    91 5.7 TBI to Carb

I did that trans swap on an older chevy I had. It IS a direct fit. Make sure you adjust the T.V. cable correctly with your throttle linkage, along with the correct brackets, otherwise your shift points will be messed up.

1989 K1500 "Rusty" work in progress

New gaskets After a day of worrying, 5 quarts of oil & filter, a can of Seafoam, and double checking my firing order & spark plug wire routing, my truck is back to running condition :evillol: Looks soooo much better with the top end detailed and the new gaskets sticking out. Maybe I`m being...

1989 K1500 "Rusty" work in progress

89 k1500 welp, the `ol intake gaskets were on their last leg, and I was sick of the seeping, pooling fluid building up on the top of the manifold when I drove. Took apart the top end of the engine today and found a can of worms. My distributor cap wasn`t lined up right and melted part of the...

    Intake Gasket Replacement

89 k1500 I removed my intake today and it was "crusty" inside. (see pics) Any good ideas on how to clean this crap out without getting a bunch into the holes in the bottom of the valley? :whymewhyme:

1989 K1500 "Rusty" work in progress

89 K1500 Got more stuff done today, and for all intents and purposes, I should be finished working on "Rusty" for the time being. New high flow cat, dist. cap, rotor & coil, Optima Red Top battery. Runs damn good compared to how it ran a month ago... Hoping for better gas mileage! :roflsquared:

breakerless distributor in a stock tbi truck???

Thanks for the info. I wound up using a stock replacement cap, rotor, and coil. Left the ICM alone because it seemed to be fine, but I got a spare and put it in the glovebox just in case.

breakerless distributor in a stock tbi truck???

I took my cap off yesterday for the first time, and the inside of the dizzy was rusty, the rotor & button is "burnt", and the cap is suffering from corrosion and carbon tracks. I went ahead and bought a new stock replacement cap, rotor, and coil at good `ol AutoZone. Recently bought a new 369...
