Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

I’m liking option 2, fits my lazy attitude about working on it. I’ll fix the gaskets and slap it together, at least there won’t be any external leaks anymore! Haha

Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

a lot of good ideas posted by several people. Will be doing most, if not all, of the suggestions. First I need to get some motivation.. I spent the day procrastinating at the river in the sun haha. Ah well, there is always tomorrow!

Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

Haha, I like spending OPM too. With my own things, I won’t deny - I tend to cheap out a lot! There is 315,000KMs, or 195700miles. I’ve only owned the truck since Dec 2023, and it had 17 owners before me haha. So I really can’t answer the oil changes or quality question. Cooling system is...

Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

I’m gonna get a shop vac goin and try to suck up large pieces. Diesel brush is a good idea, I’ve got some around I can use. I was even thinking maybe run some atf in with the oil get it hot then drain it right away.

Pulled intake manifold to change gaskets

have had an oil leak running down back of engine. Couldn’t quite tell if was intake manifold or valve cover, decided to pull apart and do all the gaskets. Found some oil sludge buildup in valley. Looks like I’ve got some cleaning to do, and some hardware to replace. How much sludge is too...

    New-to-me truck first tune-up 5.7L vortec

Just that those plug wires shouldn’t be touching. In other news, I finally got the old Yukon back in for another shop weekend. Got some new battery cable ends and terminals installed, and have boxes of parts to throw at this thing lol. P/s pump, oil filter adapter seal kit, serp belt, and a...

    Led Headlights

Thank you I think they would look good with the signals swapped around, was thinking about doing that to mine as well. I ended up putting them the way they are now just to “be different” lol and see if they grew on me. But I dunno, I think they’re a bit goofy looking haha, I may switch em...

    Frame issues

I bet that truck has spent time as a snow plow. Usually don’t see fronts that rotten unless they’ve been plow trucks

    Led Headlights

Honestly, not sure if it has anything special. I know it has daytime running lights, unsure if USA models had that. Here are some pics of them after install. Shot with just lowbeams, lows and high beams, and with everything off. And one of the pattern on a sheet of plywood. Looking forward to...

    97 yukon 4wd actuator upgrade

Cool to see the bulletin. Thanks for posting that. As an update to my original post - my 4wd is working nicely after replacing that actuator. My dash switches had a poor connection behind the dash as well.

    Passenger Floorboard is always damp

Appreciate all the replies, and links to other threads in here. I am also chasing a passenger floor water leak. Windshield was cracked and sealant was bad, so I had it replaced shortly after purchasing truck. I had assumed that was the end of my issues, nope.. I’ve got the carpet pulled up on...

    New-to-me truck first tune-up 5.7L vortec

Well exactly a month later, and I finally did the fuel filter today. Cut it open to look at it, was pretty dirty, some flakes maybe varnish or something caught in it. Drain pan was clean before draining the contents of filter into it… so probably a good thing it’s finally done now lol.. the old...

    Snow cruisin’ with my pup

Well I decided to try towing a trailer for the first time with this old truck. Figured I’d start small, so I loaded up the dog and the quad on trailer and went out. Truck didn’t even know it was back there lol

    97 yukon 4wd actuator upgrade

It is just like this one. I just some success just smacking the dash until the lights stayed lit up. So far so good, until the next speed bump anyway lmao

    97 yukon 4wd actuator upgrade

Well, finally got some time to address my 4wd actuator on front axle. Went ahead and ordered the upgrade kit from old Thermal to newer style. Used Dorman 600-600 harness and Dorman 600-601 actuator. Removed thermal actuator, cleaned threads, installed new spacer plug. Applied threadseal to new...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

VEVOR is cheap overseas stuff, they make all sorts of neat tools actually. But quality is always hit&miss a bit. I was sitting in my buddies truck the other day that he just put subs in — reminded me of my high school days haha. Figured I should get a small under the seat sub to “complete the...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

Here’s hoping it holds together lmao. It’ll be fine *cross fingers*. I was thinking of putting a small sub box under passenger seat area, as I don’t wanna take up any of the precious cargo room. If I can fit something under the seat that’ll be the way to go. Got both front doors together now...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

That is a good idea. Unfortunately, I don’t have any on hand - and the lumber yard is closed Sundays. This was a “make do” kind of idea. That said, I think the butyl gasket I made “sucked down” nicely when I snugged the screws up, and didn’t seem to shift or squish out. I am hopeful it will stay...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

Well, new development. Noticed this morning, front door speaker is quite a bit deeper than oem, hits window when all the way rolled down. D’oh. removed the 6 1/2” woofer, and cut sound deadening into strips to make gasket/spacers out of. Seems to have done the job. Had to space it out about...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

well didn’t get quite as far as I’d hoped today, but at least the paint cured well. Had company show up unexpected a couple times, but I did get most of the front right door complete. Sound deadened and tweeter/woofer/driver box installed. I ended up shaving down the factory tweeter location...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

Keepin goin in the audio job. Working on sound deadening and speaker installs today. Decided to start with scraping rust bubbles off rear floor, vacuum, degrease wipe down and giver er the tremclad tune-up. Lol. Even put the paint in front of a heater before using it, as it was below zero this...

Getting a Sound system together for my Yukon

Finally got the mail, and some time to install backup camera, and the antenna adapter. Also re-did my 4-flat trailer wiring while I was under the bumper. Previous owner twisted and taped the trailer connections.. no solder, no butt connector.. just twist and tape - no wonder it wasn’t working...

    Rebuilding Rear Drums

Yeah, potential issues still. Maybe I need to pickup an adjuster service kit, new adjuster parts might fix my issues ? I did trim the park cable return spring to match the length of the one that was removed as well, as it was too long, still seems a bit long to be honest The issue I’m having is...
